Personal: Born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. Mark has an older sister and a younger brother. Mark currently resides in Brookings and is married with a child. Mark loves football (Go Broncos!!!), and enjoys weight training, movies and outdoor activities.
Background: Graduated from Washington High School in 1994. Attended SDSU and graduated in 1999 with a BS degree in Health Promotion emphasizing in Community Relations. Attended graduate school at SDSU for one year majoring in HPER - Exercise Science and Coaching. Started his law enforcement career in the spring of 1999 as a Student Officer for the University Police Department at SDSU and was a Police Officer for the Castlewood Police Department. Mark graduated from the South Dakota Law Enforcement Academy in November 2000. Mark began working as a Police Officer at UPD in January 2001 and worked there until joining the Brookings County Sheriff's Office in October 2002.
Special Duties: Mark is a Brookings Area Tactical Team (SWAT) member and is a RADAR Instructor. Mark is also a member of Fraternal Order of Police and South Dakota Peace Officers Association.
